Bored of healthy stir-fries, soups and tray bakes on repeat? Good news, as this year promises to offer lots of new and exciting good-for-you foods. Get them here first – before they start crowding your Instagram feeds.
COOL FOOD IS ICE COLD
This is the year that a bag of peas and tub of ice cream will finally get some interesting company. ‘Frozen food is a huge trend for 2018,’ says Abbey Stanford, food writer and nutritionist with trend-prediction company The Food People. ‘We’re seeing a whole range of new products from smoothie mixes you just blitz with water right through to frozen avocados and cauli rice. It’s a convenience thing – people want to be healthy, but are also pushed for time. Frozen food and ingredients reduce the stress of producing nutritious meals.’ In other news, avos aren’t going anywhere.
