2/3 of homeowners are planning home improvement projects in the next year, says Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle research
Nearly half of young adults have attempted more DIY and home improvement tasks during time spent in lockdown. The findings* from Plasticsheetsshop.co.uk reveal that 45% of the respondents, all aged 25-44 and considered to be within the first-time buyer age range, are now more confident in tackling DIY jobs. Jonathan Opdam, managing director of Plasticsheetsshop.co.uk, says this bodes well for first-time buyers who are more likely to purchase a ‘fixer-upper’ amid rising house prices, and take on a home renovation project. “With the average age of a first-time buyer being 34 and a rising number of them buying fixeruppers, we were keen to find out whether they had the confidence and skills to fix them up. It’s exciting to see that young adults are taking more DIY tasks into their own hands.”
