Interior design is all about good editing
Living in what was once her grandparents’ apartment, Sooz Gordon plays with scale, colour and texture when curating her spaces

‘My use of strong colour causes many raised eyebrows, but more often than not I manage to convert them over to the dark side,’ laughs Sooz

GOOD IDEA
Paint shelving the same colour as the wall to let your display take centre stage
Living room
‘This was the first space I worked on, so it’s gently evolved since I moved in. I wanted to have a confident colour palette with bright and punchy accents. The shelf above the sofa allows me to continually curate a display to reflect the season – it’s a great way of keeping a room fresh. I like the fact that when people come to my flat they know it will be different from the last time they were here.’
Welcome to my home
A bit about me
My name is Sooz Gordon and I’m an interior designer. I live with my partner Richard, our daughter Sadie and our three rescue cats.
Where I live
My home is a two-bedroom maisonette apartment in East Scotland.
What I wanted to change
The flat was my grandparents’ – my gran lived here for 25 years – and it was in great condition, it just needed modernising.
