No home’s perfect – from the kooky alcoves and randomly placed windows, to the oddly-shaped hallways and plain weird layouts (whose idea was it to use the kitchen as a walkway to the bathroom?), we’ve seen our fair share of funny looking and seriously strange spaces, but that needn’t mean those areas should go unused – oh no. We’re big believers in utilising every inch of space possible; be it for storage, workspace or just to display artwork. That’s why we’ve come up with a few ideas of how to fill those nooks and give them purpose, so read on for our easy ways to sort those unconventional spots...
Sloped ceilings
Sloping ceilings can be hard to crack – just how do you use that awkward area that’s too low to stand in? If it’s a bedroom that’s got you stuck in a rut, think about tucking the head of your bed into the depth of the slope, if it fits, and draping a length of fabric above the bed for a snug, boho vibe. Aside from looking idyllic, this layout also means you’ll have much more floor space to play with. Another solution for your tricky sloping ceilings? Storage. Secure rails along the shortest wall for a stylish shoe rack, or use boxes, baskets and crates tipped on their sides to organise your knick-knacks. You could even stretch ribbon and string lights across the length of the wall to peg up pics and display your most treasured memories.
