Hornby Magazine  |  FREE sample issue

Welcome to the 2018 digital sample – a free insight into the world of Hornby Magazine and model railways. Inside you will find a collection of features from our team of contributors and photographers illustrating home-based model railways, exhibition layouts, new products and step-by-step guides to assist in making your own layout even better.

Here at Hornby Magazine, model railway construction is at the heart of what we do. Regular readers will be aware of our exhibition layouts which attend shows around the country as well as our developing test tracks which allow us to inspect the latest releases in ‘OO’, ‘N’ and ‘O’ gauges. You can read a short piece on our flagship layout - Twelve Trees Junction - and we recommend a visit to www.hornbymagazine.com to find out more about all our projects in our fortnightly blogs. There is also a regularly updated exhibition calendar.

For this sample issue we have selected three quite different layouts.
> Geoff Read’s spectacular home-based Bilston Road built in ‘OO’ gauge is great inspiration for big layout projects with fascinating ideas in the trackplan and its presentation.
> Steve Pike’s Seven Ash is a wonderful homage to Old Oak Common depot’s open air turntable and is set in the hydraulic era of the late 1960s and early 1970s.
> Greig Mackenzie’s Poulton-Le-Fylde exhibition layout has a storage yard at each end with a station at its centre and is modelled on a real location.

In this digital sample we’ve included a taster of our news coverage from the Warley show in November 2017, but that really is just a taste. Every issue is packed full of new product information, reviews, products, layouts and more. We hope you enjoy this sample and it inspires you to join this wonderfully creative hobby and to indulge in reading Hornby Magazine every month. Happy modelling!
