‘It’s Labour for me... but not in Scotland’

By Dave Bowman

IN the first of a series of iScot Question & Answer features, DAVE BOWMAN asks former Labour MP, Industry Minister, MEP and National Executive member LES HUCKFIELD about the state of politics in the UK, including the likely impact of Brexit; the prospects for Scotish Independence and how he came close to halting the political career of a young Edinburgh-born lawyer called Anthony Blair.

Les, who first entered Parliament in 1967 at the age of 24 as MP for Nuneaton in the English Midlands - becoming the youngest member of the House of Commons at the time - now lives in Perthshire and is passionately commited to the cause of Independence. He describes himself as “an activist and academic” and runs an international consultancy providing services and support to trade unions, co-operatives, social enterprises and not-for-profit organisations.
