THE CLOCK is ticking. It doesn’t tick with the mechanical sound of clockwork, or the battery operated power of a quartz watch. It ticks with the arrogance of Tory MPs. It ticks with the contradictions and confusion of a British government that’s as inept as a monkey operating the Large Hadron Collider. It ticks with a Europe that looks upon this island and increasingly sees a strange and alien land withnothing to offer and nothing to say. You only need to see the Conservative party in action to see it clearly, painfully, tragically looming on the horizon. Brexit isn’t a British lion that is roaring. Brexit is the brays of the donkeys of doom.
Theresa May started the clock ticking when she invoked Article 50 to start the process of the UK leaving the EU. She didn’t start it because she had a clear and definite plan in mind. She started it in order to boost the Conservative vote in the English local elections which came shortly after. She didn’t want to risk the loss of Conservative control of some local councils, so she embarked upon a path without a map, without knowing the destination, without any idea of how to get there even if she did. She has risked the future of the entire country, and she did it for short term party political interests.
