Issue Cover

Kerrang  |  11th March 2017

Kerrang! is lying face down on a thick, black padded massage table in the
corner of a basement in London’s East End. But wait! Give us a chance to explain. We’re at Sang Bleu, a brightly-lit tattoo studio nestled in between
Mission Of Faith Christ Gospel Ministries and a letting agent, all just a short
walk away from the thrum and bustle of Dalston Junction train station. Kanye West once passed through these doors before heading downstairs to get a permanent reminder of his daughter and his mother’s birthdays, but he’s not here today, though. In the corner of the room, tucked behind an orange flight case and bank of tables is Frank Carter, who’s currently eating his lunch from a brown paper box and is in deep conversation on his mobile. He spots Kerrang!, smiles and wraps up his phone call and pushes his food to one side. “That was my mum,” he explains, before offering us a seat at his station. Behind him, the wall is covered in different styles of tattoo flash by several artists including Dan Crowe and Jack Watts.
