Changing seasons

Kate Lynch Running the Ewes and Lambs to the Farm, oil on canvas, 133⁄4x161⁄2in. (35x42cm)

Changing Seasons at The Jerram Gallery in Sherborne, Dorset, features the recent work of painters Kate Lynch and James Meiklejohn in which they celebrate the landscape, traditions and people of the West Country. Kate’s paintings for this show are particularly concerned with capturing the personalities of the people she has met in her endeavours to preserve the old traditions of rural communities in Somerset – where she lives with her husband, the painter James Lynch. James Meiklejohn is based near Shaftesbury in Dorset and his work is inspired by the nearby Hambledon Hill, the starting point for many of his paintings, including animals and birds in the context of the hill.
