When the 90s hit and the CD became the prominent format within the music industry, vinyl sales saw a steady decline. By the time David Bowie released 1997 album Earthling, which saw him experiment with drum & bass and electronica, hardly any? records were being pressed compared tolO years prior.
Given it wasn’t a conventional album, at least as conventional as you can get by the grandiose standards of Bowie, the buying public were not out in droves to pick this up on vinyl, opting for the CD format.
