On first inspection, arriving with a smart-looking lid, the Reloop Turn 5 appears similar to a Technics SL1200; generally speaking, the plinth looks the same. The meaty, massy plinth with, on the front-left, a relatively large square start/stop button with smaller rectangular speed select buttons to its right (including third 78rpm button, significantly), plus the power control above that also holds that giveaway strobe light, give it a familiar feel.
Speaking of the strobe, that classic pattern surrounds the rim of the platter; there’s even a rubber mat atop that and, to the right, there’s an S-shaped tonearm with a circular anti-skate wheel and VTA adjacent. Even the rear, diagonally shaped, tonearm structure looks like a Technics while, at the front, there’s that familiar, removable, SME-type headshell fitting.
