> More memory or storage in an M1?
When I choose my new M1 Mac, should I get more memory or a bigger SSD?
Aim to minimize storage Xxxx space use for virtual memory, as indicated by Swap Used in Activity Monitor, and the VM volume.
Apple silicon models come with special high-speed memory mounted in the M1 chip carrier which can’t be upgraded or replaced, and their internal storage is soldered in, again for performance and security. While you can always add external storage, it’s essential to get both right when you order.
