Tove Lo Titillates, Tegan And Sara Go On Tour

Posted lunedì 2 ottobre 2017   |   625 views   |   Women's Interest   |   Comments (0) Curve’s new music column is a wrap-up of what’s new, with beloved favorites, hot artists on the rise, and who to add to your next playlist.

2017 has been a big year for queer women in music. From Young M.A’s rise to stardom to Brandy Clark’s multiple Grammy nominations—a diverse group of lesbian, bi, and queer-identified women are taking the music industry by storm.
Tove Lo, the bisexual Swedish pop star who climbed the charts with the sexy singles “Talking Body” and “Habits (Stay High)” is at it again. “Disco Tits” is the first single off her upcoming album BLUE LIPS (ladywood phase II) due out later this year. The single is an infectious dance romp with a saucy chorus in line with her signature sound. In addition to the release of “Disco Tits,” Tove Lo has created a short film Fire Fade, a follow-up to her critically acclaimed Fairy Dust, both starring the singer and incorporating music from her last release Ladywood. The film is a surreal trip with a fantastic soundtrack. Preview Disco Tits below or stream the song in its entirety here.

Sonia Leigh is a bit of a country rebel. Living in Nashville, Curve debuted her single “Live Like Ghosts” last year. Since then, Leigh has extensively toured the UK, and released the raucous single “Jack is Back” which conjures up visions of Leigh sliding into an outlaw bar and cozying up with a bottle of whiskey. Her most recent offering “Walking in the Moonlight” was released in early September and marks a departure from “Jack is Back” with an electro-pop element and soaring chorus. Leigh manages to move between genres with ease. With catchy, but light songs like “Booty Call” to the more introspective “When We Are Alone” Leigh is an incredibly versatile artist worth a listen.

Going For A Ride

Rider is a new artist hailing from the UK-via-Philadelphia, PA. The singer-songwriter has an EP due out sometime this year, and has released the first single from the record titled “A Little Light.”

“A Little Light” chronicles three of her real-life relationships, two with men and one with a woman and how she navigated that life-altering time. Rider has a lot to offer with this dreamy soundscape that has a stuck-on-repeat sensibility. Check out the single below.

It has been a busy decade for perennial favorites Tegan and Sara. Fresh off of the Love You To Death album cycle, the pair is planning to launch The Con X Tour in honor of the tenth anniversary of The Con, the 2007 album that launched them into more mainstream success and into the swooning hearts of queer girls everywhere. In honor of the momentous occasion, Tegan and Sara have compiled a cover album, The Con X: Covers, which features a wide range of artists including Hayley Williams, Ryan Adams, CHVRCHES, and Cyndi Lauper remixing all fourteen songs from the original album plus digital exclusives “One Second” and “I Take All The Blame” and more. For show dates and to purchase tickets hereThe Con X: Covers is set to be released October 20th, 2017. Check out CHVRCHES covering “Call It Off” from the upcoming album below:
Over at Billboard, writer Brittany Vincent put together a round-up of 30 Lesbian Love Songs and it’s definitely worth a read. Highlighting songs from artists like Bikini Kill, Sophie B. Hawkins (pictured above), Melissa Ferrick, and Le Tigre, there is bound to be a favorite on the list.
