Washington, D.C.— In the U.S. capital, the public bromance between President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden has been the subject of countless jokes and online memes. Some have even given their friendship a nickname—BROTUS—a play on the common acronym for president of the United States, POTUS. On January 12, just eight days before the two men were set to leave the White House, Obama offered perhaps the ultimate BROTUS gesture in awarding Biden the Presidential Medal of Freedom. “I don’t deserve this,” an emotional Biden said, “but I know it came from the president’s heart.”
