Shinty success for Oban Camanachd

Oban Camanachd were celebrating this week after lifting their first senior trophy since 2005. The win came after an Andrew MacCuish double gave them a 2-0 win over Kyles Athletic in the Scottish Sea Farms Glasgow Celtic Society Cup final at the Taynuilt Sports Field.

Kyles have had a grip on this trophy in recent years and were going for six successive successes, but Oban had other ideas.

It helped that a shoulder injury suThered by Kyles’ talisman Roddy MacDonald meant he was ruled out, and defender Donald Irvine was also unavailable. Meanwhile, Oban Camanachd received a triple boost as Malcolm Clark, Lorne Dickie and Daniel Sloss all declared themselves fit for duty.
