How did you first get into yoga?
I was first drawn to yoga due to the influence it had on the lives of my family members. With several instructors in the family fold, the attraction was always there, but the discipline was lacking. I needed to discover the art and lifestyle for myself, and once I did, my life changed forever.
What does yoga give you personally?
Yoga gives me the present moment! It allows me to be and feel in the present, to not worry about the past or fear the future. It gives me solitude. I often picture myself as a battery that sometimes runs low and needs to recharge — and the recharging is most efficient when I’m alone. This time for me is key to self-realisation. Yoga teaches us that in forming a marriage or union with Self, we are creating connection, and remembering that we are not alone in experiencing our divinity.
