“If you can kiss a girl while driving a car, then you aren’t giving the kiss the attention it deserves” – Albert Einstein A more modern take of this wonderful quote might be: “If you can have a conversation whilst texting you aren’t giving the conversation the attention it deserves.”
O’ happiness, happiness! Wherefore art though happiness? In this world of distractions it seems like we are missing each other amidst each other, caught on the promise of better things to come. How many people recognise this?
“I know I will be happy when…” (Fill in the blank with whatever it is that you think you need to be happy) It’s easy to spend an entire life aiming for a magical ‘thing’ that once achieved will mean the arrival of an everlasting state of bliss. No more suffering, no more sadness. Maybe it’s striving for the next promotion or pay rise, or your dream partner. Maybe it’s just the coming weekend, or your next holiday. Or maybe none of these will make us truly happy as happiness is a verb and not a noun.
