USA: Zen president A 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful wants to raise awareness of yoga and mindfulness as part of this campaign. Ohio congressman Tim Ryan — who, if given the nod by his party, could face Donald Trump in the next US elections — recently held a New York fundraiser that featured a yoga class and a breathing session, under the banner ‘Healing America Through Mindful Leadership’. He believes America is craving a more ‘zen president’. “You look at the presidents we admire over the years,” he said, “and they have that quality of equanimity in rocky times.”
USA: Gator girl They do say truth is stranger than fiction. Well, a new use for yoga pants has emerged (in addition to being ultra comfy garments ideal for your standard yoga practice)…concealing dangerous, wild animals. A woman in Florida, stopped by police in traffic recently, pulled a small alligator from her yoga pants after being quizzed by law enforcement officers. She pulled out the one-foot gator after cops also found 41 small turtles in a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle backpack in the car. The 25-year-old woman and the car’s driver said they were collecting frogs and snakes under an overpass. Officials say the case is still pending. The mind boggles.
