So far Becky Lewis has swum the English Channel seven times. Her eighth crossing is already booked and she has her sights set on a double crossing. How does she balance a busy work life with training and still keep breaking records?

This year Becky Lewis smashed her previous record for a two-way Windermere crossing, knocking 14 minutes off the record she set in 2005 when she was 21. The chartered physiotherapist from Ulverston in the Lake District also swam the Channel for the seventh time this summer.

In 2014 she took a year off from open water swimming to concentrate on setting up her own physiotherapist practice but says she is now managing to better balance work and swim training – and hopes that 2016 will prove to be her best year yet. We caught up with Becky to talk training, work/life balance and her obsession with the Channel.

About Outdoor Swimmer

Welcome to the Christmas issue. This month we talk to English Channel record holder Becky Lewis about her seven crossings (and counting!) and to Beth French about her plan to complete the Oceans Seven in one year, despite suffering from ME. Have you ever wanted to swim an Ice Mile? We have expert advice on how to train safely for one of swimming's most extreme challenges. And if you like a bit of trail running with your outdoor swimming, we take an in-depth look at the endurance sport of swimrun. We have inspiring travel features on Italy, Scotland and the French Riviera. And as it's Christmas we have some delicious cake recipes to try! Plus all the usual training advice and sessions, news, interviews, inspirational stories and event listings for 2016.
