PowerTorque  |  Feb/March 18

PowerTorque’s February/March issue (on sale Feb 8th) is all about milestone achievements.

Kenworth produced its 60,000th truck from the PACCAR manufacturing plant in Bayswater, Melbourne. This number was matched by Volvo Group, combining total production of MACK and Volvo at its Wacol, Queensland, manufacturing centre.

The Crawford family opened a brand-new CMV Truck Centre in Derrimut, Melbourne. It’s the epitome of how truck sales and repair centres should be, and PowerTorque congratulates the Crawford family and all involved in the project.

Staying with MACK, and we profile the new ANTHEM truck range as it launches in North American markets. It’s certainly a step in the right direction as we look forward to the day it arrives on our shores.

Brenton O’Connor headed around Victoria in a Mercedes-Benz Atego and a R620 Scania. Ed Higginson spent a day with Scania master trainers to learn more about this Swede’s finer points prior to the launch of the New Generation model that both Brenton and Ed will be reporting on in our April issue.

We profile LinCon, Australia’s leading suppliers of extended elevating work platforms for off-road work, Kelly Transport of Toowoomba, S&D Lee Heavy Haulage, DDS Transport Solutions of Brisbane, Whitlee Transport of Goulburn and GB Galvanizing.

We look at Holmwood Highgate’s latest bitumen tanker in service with Speedie Contractors and report on its innovative electric emersion heater system that replaces gas-fired burners, and we update our information on the Eaton UltraShift PLUS dual mode transmission.
