SUZUKI BANDIT
Few bikes are so successful that they inspire a whole new class of motorcycle. Fewer still are humble, budget-priced affairs aimed at the common man. But that’s what Suzuki’s first Bandits were and, in the UK
and Europe, in their original six hundred and 1200cc guises, they literally revolutionised mainstream motorcycling. First launched in the UK in early 1995 in naked GSF600N form, there was little initial fanfare or excitement about these new roadsters from Suzuki. Bandits had, after all, been around in Japan in 250 and 400cc capacities since the late eighties and in the years
since had created virtually zero excitement in Britain. So the unveiling of this new six hundred version, especially because it was at a fairly low-key, UK only press event in grey and damp Berkshire, didn’t look likely to change that preconception much. Until we rode it, that is.
