editor’s letter
I love January. It’s time to recharge, consider the year we’ve left behind, and turn to a fresh page on which to write the next chapter of our lives. We’re inviting you to look at what’s truly possible for you in 2018 – and we are focusing on how to change your mindset. ‘If we change our mindset, we change everything. Until Roger Bannister broke the four-minute mile, no one had. After that, many followed suit… One person believed it was possible, then 10 chased his tail thinking, “If he can do it, I can do it.” That’s how possibility works,’ says entrepreneur Sháá Wasmund, our star columnist, on page 60.
Hannah Davies changes her mindset about January on page 26: ‘The secret is not fighting January by living life as you would in other months, but sinking into its quiet rhythm and gentle stillness.’ By turning inwards, we can hear the whispered invitations that get drowned out by the busyness of the everyday. And the whispers don’t always have to be positive: on page 32, Rachel Garnett explores how experiencing, instead of editing, our negative emotions will wake us up and make us feel alive again.
