When negotiating the details of your book, don’t forget: your publisher is the boss

Dear Agony Editor,

I’m about to publish my second novel. My publisher wants to change the title, and I hate the cover design. After numerous emails and conversations, I’ve basically been told, “End of discussion.” I’m angry, but I don’t know what recourse I have. Can a publisher go ahead and do whatever they want? After all, it’s my name on the front cover.
