Mineral Resources buy their own trains
Concerned at the high cost of shipping their iron ore by rail, Mineral Resources Limited made the decision to purchase their own locomotives and rolling stock. Peter Clark explains why they chose to purchase wagons from China, but locomotives from Australia.

End of an Era
Each February, for many years now, the ARHS (Qld) division has operated the diesel-hauled Winelander as a weekend excursion to Stanthorpe and Wallangarra. The pending withdrawal of QR’s M Set carriages from active service has produced its first casualty, with the last Winelander taking to the rails on the weekend of February 22/23. Trams run to Dulwich Hill – at last!
On a wet Thursday 27 March; 13 years, seven months and two weeks after Bob Carr opened the previous extension of Sydney’s tram line – to Lilyfield – the 5.6 kilometre extension along the right-of-way of the former Rozelle goods line to Dulwich Hill, was finally declared open. Trevor Bauer reports.
