Vincent van Gogh Olive Trees, 1889, oil on canvas, 20x253⁄4in (51x65.2cm)
The eagerly awaited EY Exhibition, Van Gogh and Britain, opens at Tate Britain on March 27, bringing together 45 of the artist’s works from collections around the world. These will include some of his most famous works, such as Starry Night on the Rhône and Sunflowers, as well as less well-known paintings – and works by British artists who were inspired by him. Francis Bacon, David Bomberg, Christopher Wood and William Nicholson are just some of the artists whose works will be on show, many of them painting the same subjects as Van Gogh. A series of related events accompany the exhibition, including tours and talks – as well as events aimed at children, from painting and drawing workshops that encourage budding artists to paint like the Dutch painter, to quizzes that explore how much you know about the artist. There will be extended opening hours on Fridays April 5 and June 7. Bookings are now being taken. Go to www.tate.org.uk
