50 LEADING WOMEN IN HEDGE FUND 2018

NEW YORK

More than 275 guests attended an evening reception hosted by The Hedge Fund Journal at The Pierre in New York on 2 October 2018, to celebrate the publication of the 2018 edition of our 50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds report. Nearly all of the US-based women featured in the report made it to the event, along with their colleagues and other guests. A sister event held in London, on 10 October 2018, was a dinner for 135 guests at the Avenue restaurant in St James’s Street, London. The majority of the European-based women who featured in the report, as well as colleagues and other guests, attended, with some travelling from Paris and Dublin for the event.

“This is the sixth edition of the report and comes hot on the heels of our 2017 report. Interest in the report is so great that we have moved it from biannual to annual.

Both the London and the New York events were sell-outs,”said Rod Sparks, who has published The Hedge Fund Journal since 2004. “We are very grateful to EY who have sponsored the last five reports, in addition to four editions of our Tomorrow’s Titans report of rising star hedge fund portfolio managers,”he added.

The report’s author, Hamlin Lovell, who has been Contributing Editor of The Hedge Fund Journal since 2010, summarised the entries, saying, “some 45 women in this report have not appeared in the previous reports published in 2017, 2015, 2013, 2011 and 2010. The report features portfolio managers as well as a wide range of C-suite roles – CIOs, CROs, CEOs, CFOs and COOs – along with general counsel, HR professionals, sales, marketing and business development professionals, and investor relations professionals. Most work in hedge funds with some of them drawn from the service provider community. The calibre of nominations goes from strength to strength every time we repeat the report. Firms in this report manage between $1 and $40 billion in alternatives”.
