When I was twelve there was a typhoon and the river flooded. I remember watching terrified from the roof of our house as all our possessions were washed away.
My mother and father separated while I was young and life became harder still. My mother had to move away to work leaving me in the care of my elder sister. I remember being constantly hungry, and one day we were so hungry we went looking for frogs to eat.
I knew from an early age that I was different. When my Father was living with us he bought me a bag with a picture of Hulk Hogan on it, but what I really wanted was a pink bag like the ones I’d seen other girls carrying.
