Aerial Africa

One of the greatest adventures you can have is to soar above Earth’s majestic landscapes in a helicopter, aeroplane, microlight or hot-air balloon. To wet your appetite, here are six amazing photographs of Africa by Richard du Toit

Gemsbok, Sossusvlei, Namibia

Flying low over the sand dunes of the Namib Desert was unforgettable. In the endless sea of orange, we spotted just the occasional antelope. I remember a strong wind was blowing that day, and for a brief moment this gemsbok paused on the crest of a dune. I fired off two quick shots and then he was gone. Many aerial images look tranquil, but working from a plane or helicopter is fast and furious. It’s the most difficult type of photography I do.
