We know that most people have no idea of the sufering and trauma that dairy cows are forced to endure. Results of Viva!’s public opinion poll revealed a shocking level of ignorance about the animal foods people are encouraged to eat. Nearly 70 per cent were unaware that cows have to be made pregnant to produce milk and that their calves are taken from them shortly after birth.

To help counter this, in 2018 Viva! launched MooFree May as part of our wider Scary Dairy campaign. We not only wanted to expose the dark side of dairy, but also to positively encourage people to ditch dairy in favour of delicious dairy-free alternatives. It was a roaring success, so this year we decided to go bigger and better!
