Culture is difficult to change, especially when the vile truths of some of our cultural traditions are hidden from us. This isn’t to say that culture should be abandoned — on the contrary, it is something that should be fiercely protected, but not at the expense of animal welfare. Our culture gives us a sense of belonging, community and identity and one of the key components of British culture is the royal family.
Whether you are pro-monarchy or not, the royal family are a key part of what makes Britain British, our rich history and you need only stand outside Buckingham Palace to see that the monarchy is the envy of many non-Brits. From the Queen’s speech to the birth of a new member of the family, people around the globe are delighted by the Windsors.
