Steeped in over 2,500 years of history and cultural practice, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) remains a popular form of treatment and medication to this day. Within TCM, it is believed that there is no separation between the mind and the body, and that the interaction between mind, body and environment are crucial to your overall health. Thus, these medicinal practices treat the individual as a ‘whole’ rather than targeting a single wound or pain, with treatment plans often including acupuncture, cupping, herbal remedies, massage therapy, and movement exercises. However, while these practices are commonplace within TCM, so too is the slaughter of animals for use in remedies and medicines. From bears to tigers, rhinos to elephants, many species and subspecies have been poached to the brink of extinction due to the high demand of their horns, tusks, bones and organs.
