IN 1975, TOPPS PRODUCED AND RELEASED – IN CERTAIN GEOGRAPHICAL AREAS – MINI VERSIONS OF THEIR ’75 TOPPS BASEBALL SET. THEY CALLED IT A “TEST.” TODAY, IT REMAINS ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR TESTS IN BASEBALL CARD HISTORY.

Let’s start with the greatest mystery of my collecting career. The 1975 Topps mini set, possibly the most popular test issue in the history of the gum and trading card company, sold in two areas of the country that year according to everything I have read on the subject over the years.

Consensus says that the trial set could be found in packs in Michigan and California. The Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards, compiled for many years by late hobby great Bob Lemke, expands the area of marketing to “the west coast.”
