Vintage Roadscene  |  May-22
The monthly magazine full of road transport nostalgia. This month’s ‘Scenes Past’ features vehicles used by municipal operators of the past. The monthly emergency services article looks at the first Big Bedford fire appliances. There is another in the series on light vans from the 1960s to the 1980s, this time on small Bedfords. It is 100 years since the first purpose-built bus station was opened at Maidstone. A stalwart of both the commercial vehicle business and preservation, Bob Bone is remembered. There are boyhood pictures of British Road Services lorries in Poole and some explanatory pictures of a Jekta-bodied lorry.. Previews of the Vintage Roadscene Archive issue on bodybuilders, G C Smith and the latest On the Buses issue on Selling Buses are also included. Coming up to date, there are reports from the Classic Car & Restoration Show and on preservation by the Town and District Trust, plus readers’ interesting letters and pictures.
