Issue #62 of Vintage Trucks & Commercials Magazine is packed with plenty of vintage trucking stories on some of Australia's most historic brands that have ploughed our highways and outback dirt roads.

In this issue, we delve deep into the past with a detailed article from Cam McFadyen and Peter Murray with the story of ‘The Taroom Tragedy’, which examines three young Queensland truckies story, the ending of which shook outback towns and the reverberations extended from the trucking circles and into the regulations we see in the industry today. There is the clean and detailed restoration of a 1952 Commer utility by Tony Smart and Brian Brookes delivers us with the tales of salt cartage in Useless Loop in Western Australia and the mighty trucks that they used in this harsh environment to get salt and gypsum into manufacturing.

Matt Charley writes about his fuel guzzling 76 Dodge, that he gave a facelift and some new features, so he could safely drive through the country with a load on the tray and not stop at every service station on route. We have a detailed pictorial spread from the vast collection of Tony Petch, where he covers a plethora of iconic trucks that he has seen in the industry. The final part of Across the Pacific is told by Darren Hingston where he details more on the importation of Pacific Trucks from Canada and their use and importance in the apple isle.

Also, in this issue is an in-depth readers letter regarding the Australian variants of the rare International ARC/ASC - that have been affectionately referred to in previous issues as ‘UGLY’. As always, we have plenty of news and letters from our readers, Truck Art, Forgotten Names in Transport and our expanded classifieds section where a host of trucks and others items are up for sale or are wanted.
