BUILD YOUR DREAM MACHINE
Desktop PCs are more affordable than ever, but the problem is that you can’t always guarantee you’ll get the right model for your needs. Of course, desktops are infinitely customisable, unlike laptops, you can easily swap out any component for repair or upgrading purposes. But if you’re in the market for a new desktop, you’ll be missing a trick if you incur the expense of an off-the-shelf model only to compound it by having to purchase additional components to bring it up to spec. Here’s another thought: why not build your own desktop PC from scratch? It’s not as tricky as it sounds, most of the PC components you need will simply click into place, and there are no heart-stopping techniques like soldering to worry about. In fact, the only tools you’re likely to need are a Philips screwdriver or two, plus an anti-static wristband or some other means of earthing yourself. Don’t believe us? In this feature we’re going to step you through the entire process of deciding what you need, sourcing the right
components to do the job, and taking you through the entire process of building your PC.
