Q I often get heartburn and an acid taste in my mouth when I run. Why is this and what can I do about it?
A Triathlon offers a fun alternative to simply running and may also reduce your likelihood of picking up those frustrating running-related overuse injuries. If you’re coming from a running background, it’s well worth spending time developing your technique and fitness in swimming and cycling, and getting your bike set up correctly. Incorporate some ‘brick’ sessions into your training – running straight off the bike, and cycling straight from the swim – as well as the allimportant fourth discipline, the transition. Triathlon clubs are a great place to get started: you’ll find lots of support and expertise from both coaches and club members.
