Yes, you read that title right. This isn’t an article about excuses not to go running. If I wrote about those, I’d take up the entire magazine. For those of you who wake up at dawn, fist bump the air and decide it’s time for a run, you may be wondering what I’m on about. But to those people, I say a), Who are you?! And b), are you even human? For the rest of us mere mortals, when life gets busy (which is always) and we’re tired (which is always), sometimes the thing we love the most (which is running) slides silently, almost willingly, to the bottom of the to-do list.
Having spent six months of last year gallivanting around Great Britain with no shoes on (Google ‘Barefoot Britain’), I arrived at the start of 2020 reluctant to do any running. I knew I should run. But every time I managed to crowbar my feet into some shoes and head out the door, I would get 10 minutes into my enforced jogette and come to find that I was walking. “Anna! What are you doing?!”
