With no spring marathons happening this year, all the focus is on the autumn. There’s a bumper crop of races to choose from and, with a quieter race calendar this spring and summer, you’ve got the perfect opportunity to go all in and run a strong marathon.
It may be that you’ve used the past 12 months to focus on (or even start) running. However, for many of us, training has been disrupted during 2020. The lack of races to focus on and general overwhelm of a stressful year means training may have been put on the back burner.
Whatever your current fitness, giving yourself a good long build up to an autumn marathon is going to give you the best chance of success. We’ve given you two 20-week plans to choose from: one for first-time marathon runners or those looking to complete the distance in more than 4 hours, and one for those with more running experience who’d like to go a little faster.
