Liz took her fitness more seriously after having breast cancer and wanting to make some changes to her lifestyle
How did you get into running?
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014. I had aBMI of 53 at the time. Over the years, I had gained so much weight and didn’t do any exercise at all, although I was very active in everyday life. At school, I was always the kid not picked for team sports and used to write fake notes from my parents saying I could not do PE, because it was so humiliating. When laying on the sofa, post chemo sessions, I decided I needed to change my life, and in 2018, I started Couch to 5K. I hated the running but loved the euphoria after, and the satisfaction that I actually completed it! My BMI then was 40 and remains that still.
