Walking into a clinic with an injury and being told that the root cause of it is the fact your glutes don’t work properly is a common misdiagnosis in the therapy world. If your glutes didn’t work, you’d fall flat on your face! The glutes take a lot of the blame for running injuries, but nearly always for the wrong reason. The body functions like a chain –a kinetic chain. This describes the interrelated groups of body segments, connecting joints and muscles working together to perform movement. The posterior chain – all the muscles on the back side of the body – is a massive powerhouse and extremely important for many forms of movement, including running.
