@emmakirkyo iriformis syndrome is an
Pirritation of the piriformis muscle, which compresses the sciatic nerve. The muscle connects the base of your hip to the top of your thigh bone in a strap-like fashion across the glutes. It is responsible for rotating your hip outward and helps with abduction of the hip (basically, think of the movement of your legs when you’re getting in and out of a car). There’s no easy way to say this so take a deep breath; if you get piriformis syndrome, it can often be a right pain in the bum.
Presenting as a pain or, in some cases, pins and needles or numbness in the glutes that travels down the back of your legs, it’s an annoying syndrome that can persist while you’re running or even just walking. Occasionally, it can even irritate when you sit down for long periods of time as well.
Don’t adjust your running style to mitigate pain from piriformis syndrome; it could cause other issues
