Half marathons are a popular race distance for runners of all abilities. Whether you started running this year, or have many years of running under your belt, a few months of training can put you on the start line ready to run a strong half marathon.
The longer summer days provide the daylight hours you need to get in those midweek miles, no matter whether you head out at day break or in the evening. Grab your diary, turn to page 96 and find an autumn race you fancy. Now’s the time to kickstart your training with a bit of race motivation.
Preparing to run As with any race distance, there are some key things to remember when training for a half marathon: listen to your body, prioritise your sleep and nutrition, take an extra rest day when needed and don’t forget to warm up and cool down for each session.
