When Danielle Guy joined the running club at her university, she was shocked to discover members considered an ‘easy run’ to be an eight-minute-permile pace.
Demoralised, she concluded that club running was not for her even though she had completed a half marathon and progressed her running. She kept plodding along on her own.
Several years later, she discovered that there were lots of other runners who just wanted a bit of a chat and a slower run. “Many people told me that they struggled to stay motivated running on their own,” she says. “The more I spoke to people, the more I realised they needed a helping hand, so I f loated the idea of a running club for women.”
