This is a good race to book in if you fancy trying to keep training over the festive period this year.
We know it’s a long way off but it could be a good winter motivator to stick in the diary.The Romsey 5 Mile is set in the magnificent and tranquil Broadlands Estate, once home to Earl Mountbatten of Burma. It also claims to be one of the flattest five-mile courses in the country.
The day before, the storms were horrific, but on race-day morning we were truly blessed with a few hours of calm. No freezing rain, no biting wind so it had the potential to be a fast run too. Predominantly tarmac, with a short distance of smooth hardcore on each of the three laps, I couldn’t help wondering why I had never done this race before. It’s a stunning location to run in.
