“I NEEDED THE STRUCTURE OF A TRAINING PLAN”

“Running 26.2 miles was much more difficult than I expected. The first thing I said to my friend when I finished was: ‘Don’t ever let me do another marathon again!’ But it’s incredible how quickly the memories of the pain fade. I found myself entering the ballot for the following year –.it was a strange mix of knowing how difficult it was, but relishing the challenge and the feeling of success on finishing it. It might have also been that I felt a bit flat after completing it –.I am quite structured in my training, following a plan for each event and I really missed that element and found I needed to keep that drive and motivation going. I started to train for ultra-marathons and other marathons to vary the terrain and challenge myself further. I have since completed five ultramarathons and numerous other races. I continue to challenge myself by mixing up my training and setting new goals.”
