Could you hit a PB just four weeks from now? We give you the essential elements that will get you into the shape of your life

Sto how do you get that PB? In simple terms, it normally takes at least two weeks for basic training adaptations to show, and up to six weeks for a measurable improvement. So if you make some of the following changes now, in four weeks’ time you could be nudging into PB territory.
Even if you’ve been struggling to ind your itness mojo this year or been injured, pack in these tips and in a short time, you’ll be back on top of your game. With a strong itness base and a positive mindset, you can do it!
Strength training
Assuming you have a solid base level of conditioning, one way to see improved itness in one month is to strength train the movements and muscles involved in running, with exercises such as lunges, box step-ups and rotation work for the core. “This can help joint alignment and control, meaning less wasted energy just to keep your body upright as you run,” says Paul Swainson, head of PT at Future Fit Training. “Done correctly, strength work can also reduce your injury risk as well.”
