In her mum‘s words, Eilish is “one tough cookie”, overcoming challenges and injuries to excel
Eilish, Liz’s first child, shows the same grit and determination as her mum; she’s a double Olympian, a World, Commonwealth and Olympic finalist, European silver and bronze medallist and the Scottish record holder over 3,000m steeplechase and 5,000m. Just like Liz, she has a depth of talent and, no doubt, when she debuts at the marathon she will be just as intimidating a competitor.
Eilish is also a positive, inspiring role model to girls and young women, blogging about training and challenges (@eilishmccolgan) and we are sure at the 2021 Olympics and beyond her star will be shining brighter than ever.
“Eilish inspires me through her attitude and desire to improve and be the best that she can be,” says mum Liz. “I love that she challenges me as a coach as she has had so many problems and injuries along the way and she has made me think out of the box to keep developing her talent. Instead of accepting defeat, like some athletes would, Eilish finds the inner strength to push even harder. She is one tough cookie that, as a coach and mother, I could not be any prouder of.”
