Father and son Graham and Ben Green were on their way back to Ben’s London flat after the 2014 Virgin Money London Marathon when they realised that their combined finishing time of 5hrs 18mins 35secs could be noteworthy. “One of Ben’s friends texted and said that must be some kind of record for a father and son marathon. Neither of us had thought of that before so, later on that day, we started Googling and we couldn’t find anyone who had run it faster. We applied to Guinness and they confirmed that we had broken the record. In 2015, we purposely set out to beat our previous record – so we’ve actually done it twice now!”
