fter her impressive silver at the Tokyo Olympics last year, followed up with two more silvers at the World and Commonwealth champs earlier this summer, Keely Hodgkinson finally took international gold in the European Championships in Munich in August.
Still aged only 20 years old, Keely, who usually pushes the pace from the front of the pack, decided to let the race unfold before she kicked for home. Laura Muir (see Footnotes on page 98) also retained her European title, and Eilish McColgan took a silver and bronze in the 10,000m and 5,000m, making her medal haul four in two weeks.
McColgan finished off her summer of success with a win at the Big Half in London on September 4th. With a time of 67mins 34secs, Eilish took two minutes off the course record and posted the joint fourth fasted half marathon time in British history. 2022 has definitely been a memorable year for Scottish women!
