You kindly published my letter about running buddies getting you through, getting you out there and motivated, in March.Well, I ran the Great Manchester Half in May. The heat was stifling and it was the worst race I’ve ever ran. I got round, but felt wrecked, emotional, exhausted and broken. I had a total crisis of confidence and kept telling myself I must be ill. I was despondent, beaten and low.
My amazing running buddy pushed me along, because we had already signed up for the Reykjavik Midnight Half, booked the flights, paid for the hotel. Right up to the start of the race I wanted to drop down to the 10K – I was anxious I wouldn’t finish a half. To top it offI was given race number one! I was mortified. But she kept encouraging me.
